Improving SoCal Competitiveness through Infrastructure Dev

During this webinar event, we will hear from experts who can weigh in on the future and current elements which are being pursued to improve the Sothern Callifornia infrastructure leading to an increase of jobs and competitive advantages for ocean carriers, truckers, brokers, warehouses, importers and exporters, and more. Our featured speakers include Noel Hacegaba from Port of Long Beach, Paul Bingham from IHS Markit, and Michele Grubbs from PMSA (Pacific Maritime Shippers Association) and moderated by Brett Parker.

Brett Parker (moderator) is the Co-Founder, President of Cargomatic, Inc.  Cargomatic was the first Digital Broker and helped to ignite the most recent wave of digital transformation and outside investment in Logistics. Cargomatic's model finds empty space on trucks and monetizes it for truckers through its proprietary digital marketplace. Brett also has significant involvement in The Triangle Group, a 40 year old, nationally recognized 3PL who provides logistics services to some of the biggest BCO’s and Forwarders.  Brett is an expert in logistics, has deep knowledge in warehousing and all modes of transportation including LTL, FTL, Dray and Brokerage.  Brett serves as a Board Member of the CSCMP, Southern California, earned a BA from University of Colorado, Boulder, and a JD from The Pepperdine University School of Law. 

Michele Grubbs manages the Southern California office as Vice President of PMSA for the past 16 years.  Michele testifies frequently before both the ports and city councils of the Los Angeles and Long Beach on a variety of topics that impact international trade.  She has also testified before the Federal Maritime Commission, California State Lands Commission, California Coastal Commission and various state and federal legislative committees and panels. Prior to working for PMSA, Michele was employed by McDonnell Douglas, engaged in various international trade policy and marketing roles in Washington D.C., California and Western Europe.

Dr. Noel Hacegaba is the Deputy Executive Director/COO of the Port of Long Beach. He has more than 24 years of leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, including the last 10 years at the Port of Long Beach.  As Deputy Executive Director/COO, Dr. Hacegaba is responsible for managing the day-to-day administration and operations of the nation’s second largest port.

Paul Bingham is a Director of Transportation Consulting within the Economics and Country Risk division of global data and analytics firm IHS Markit.  He has over 30 years of consulting experience providing freight transportation, international trade and supply chain forecasting and analysis for companies and public agencies worldwide.  He is based in Southern California, working with colleagues and clients around the world supporting decision making and planning that leverages the extensive information and analytic capabilities of IHS Markit.  He is a member of CSCMP and has spoken at previous EDGE conferences and local chapter events.  He is an appointed member of the US Federal Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness and is an Emeritus Member and former chair of the Freight Systems Group of committees of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board (TRB).
